Processing Payments

Your software has the ability to process multiple forms of payment from multiple places within the system.

You can process a payment by:

  • Clicking Payment on the Nav Bar,
  • Selecting the Pay button on a tenant’s general page or ledger,
  • within the Units Tab,
  • or within the Past Due Tab.

Choosing any of these options will open up the Make Payment window.

If the the tenant is delinquent, their name will appear in red.

If the tenant does not have a bill overdue, their name will appear in blue.

Under each unit, you’ll see an option that says + Show Charges. Selecting this option will outline all charges currently due for overdue tenants. For tenants who are up-to-date with their payments, future charges will be displayed.

All charges on the tenant’s account will appear. To process a payment, there are three options:

  1. Current Balance Due: The tenant pays all charges on their account with this option.
  2. Current + Upcoming: The tenant pays their current balance and their payment for the next month’s rent. Selecting this option will add a line item labeled as Future Charges.
  3. Other Amount: This allows a tenant to make a partial payment. If you make select Other Amount, you’ll enter the amount the tenant would like to pay at this time.

Next, you’ll select the payment method.

1) Card Reader

  • Select Card Reader as the payment method by clicking the button next to the method.
  • Click the Begin Swipe button and swipe the card.

Please check with your payment processor to find out if your card reader will work. storEDGE accepts all card readers, but your payment processor may not.

If you are using a Storable Payments card reader, the following methods of payment can be accepted through the card reader:

U.S facilities

  • Credit or debit card tap
  • Credit or debit card insert
  • Credit or debit card swipe
  • Apple Pay
  • Google Pay

Canadian facilities

  • Credit or debit card tap
  • Credit or debit card insert
  • Credit or debit card swipe
  • Apple Pay
  • Google Pay
  • Interac Debit

2) Manual Debit/Credit or ACH/eCheck

  • Select Debit/Credit or ACH/eCheck as the payment method by clicking the button next to either method.
  • Enter the first and last name of the cardholder, the card number, expiration date, and security code in the proper fields.
  • Enter the tenant’s billing address information in the proper fields.
  • Click Process Payment to complete transaction.

3) Cash

  • Select cash as the payment method by clicking the button next to the method.
  • Specify the amount tendered (how much money the tenant is giving you) by typing it into the “Amount Tendered” field.
  • The software will automatically calculate the “Change Due” to the tenant.
  • Click Process Payment to complete the transaction.

4) Check

  • Select Check as the payment method by clicking the button next to the method.
  • Enter the name on the check, the check number, the check amount, and the date you received the check in the proper fields. Note: Check Date is an optional field.
  • Click Process Payment to complete the transaction.

5) Money Order

  • Select Money Order as the payment method by clicking the button next to the method.
  • Enter the money order number and the money order amount in the proper fields.
  • Click Process Payment to complete the transaction.

6) Existing Payment

  • Select Choose Existing as the payment method by clicking the button next to the method.
  • The name, card number, expiration date, and billing address will automatically populate.
  • Clicking Process Payment to complete the transaction.
