Managing text message opt-in status

To be compliant with our SMS provider’s messaging policy, tenants must give consent to receive text message communications. If you send text messages from your storEDGE software, there are a number of ways that tenants can opt in or out of text messages. 

From the Customer Profile in storeEDGE

You can opt a customer in from the customer’s General Information by checking the SMS box. If the customer does not want to receive text messages, leave the box unchecked.

If a customer opts in or out from the Rental Center or by replying to the text message thread with your facility, the check box in storEDGE will automatically be updated. You will not be able to text tenants when consent has not been provided or if they have opted out. 

From the text message thread with your facility

Your customers can opt out of receiving SMS (text messages) at any time by texting STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, and QUIT to your facility’s Two-Way Texting number. Only single word messages will trigger the block. For example, if the customer texts STOP, they will stop receiving messages from you, but replying STOP PLEASE will not stop them from receiving messages from you.

Customers can also reply START to opt back in.

 

From Rental Center

If you use Rental Center, a customer can opt in or out of text messages from the reservation form, online move-in flow, and their customer portal.

If a prospective tenant places an online reservation, they can opt into text messages when filling out the reservation form by checking I agree to receive text message communications from the facility.” under the primary phone number field.

Move-in flow

If you’ve enabled online move-ins, tenants can check or uncheck I agree to receive text message communications from the facility.” under the primary phone number field when completing the online move-in. 

Rental Center customer portal

Once a customer creates an account in Rental Center, they can change their opt-in status by navigating to their Account Information page and checking or unchecking the box: I agree to receive text message communications from this facility.
