Processing customer payments with a card reader (Storable Payments)

⚠️ The article is applicable to Storable Payments customers who have purchased a card reader from the Storable Payments store.

Once you’ve set up your card reader, you can use it to take customer payments by selecting the Card Reader radio button on the payments screen in storEDGE and then selecting the terminal from the Card Reader Information dropdown menu.

Click Process Payment to begin the transaction. 

The following methods of payment can be accepted through the card reader:

U.S facilities

  • Credit or debit card tap
  • Credit or debit card insert
  • Credit or debit card swipe
  • Apple Pay
  • Google Pay

Canadian facilities

  • Credit or debit card tap
  • Credit or debit card insert
  • Credit or debit card swipe
  • Apple Pay
  • Google Pay
  • Interac Debit

1. The card reader screen will prompt the customer to insert, tap, or swipe their payment method.


2. The card reader will prompt the customer to remove the card if payment was made by card.

3. The card reader will display the transaction amount. The customer should confirm whether the amount is correct using the F3 and F4 buttons.


Yes: Press F3 to confirm if the transaction is correct.

No: Press F4 to cancel the transaction if the amount is incorrect.

4. After the transaction is confirmed, the payment will be processed and authorized. Confirm with the customer that they have received a success message.

Please note: Due to the complexity of digital wallet payment methods, if you save a card on file from a Digital Wallet payment method (GooglePay or ApplePay), it cannot be used to make another payment until the next day.

If you are experiencing an issue with the terminal such as not accepting all forms of card reading (tapping, swiping, etc.), reboot the terminal.
