Moving a tenant in with a Future Move-In date

Tenant move-in process

If Future Move-Ins are enabled, you can select a date at move-in up to the maximum future move-in days set in your Software Settings.

Click Process a Future Move-In to proceed.

Move-in documents will be generated for the tenant to sign, and payment can be made as usual. The tenant’s gate code will be generated and sent to the tenant. Activation of the gate code will depend on your Future Move-In settings. 

Please note: The move-in date of a Future Move-In cannot be edited once the payment is complete.

 

Once the move-in is scheduled

  • The unit will be shown as Occupied throughout storEDGE and on reports.
  • The move-in will be on the tenant ledger and unit ledger at the time of move-in.
  • Cash will be recognized at the time of payment; money will remain in a liability account until the actual tenancy period.

Check-in

If Manual Check-In was selected in your Future Move-In settings, you can check tenants in from several places in the software.

Tenant Profile

If a Future Move-In is scheduled, the tenant profile will include a banner at the top with a check-in button. The Future Move-In date will be shown as upcoming in the Rentals section.

Leads page

The Leads page will include a Future Move-Ins tab that shows pending Future Move-Ins and their move-in date. If Auto Vacate Future Move-Ins is selected in settings, the Auto Move-Out date will also be shown. 

The Status column will indicate whether the tenant has signed the lease and paid their balance. You can click Pay, Sign, or Send Lease from this column to complete these steps if needed.

If the tenant decides not to move in, you can click Move-Out to make the unit available for rental prior to the scheduled move-in date. You can schedule a transfer by clicking Transfer; however, the transfer will not be processed until check-in is complete.

Click Check in from this tab to check tenants in.

You will see a popup message confirming that you are checking the tenant in. Click Complete Check-In to proceed.

Please note: If you check the tenant in early, they won’t be covered by insurance until their actual move-in day.

If you are checking the tenant in early, you can add additional days of rent charge in the next step.

Once they are checked in, tenants will be removed from the Future Move-Ins tab. 

Scheduled Move-Ins task

A Scheduled Move-Ins task will appear in the task list the day before the scheduled move-in for both manual and automatic Future Move-Ins.

Click Scheduled Move-Ins and then click the checkbox to mark the task as done. The scheduled move-in will be removed from the task list.

Missed Move-Ins

If manual check-in is required and the tenant doesn’t check in, they will be shown as missed move-ins on the Future Move-Ins tab of the Leads page. You can filter the tab for only missed move-ins from the Type dropdown menu.

Missed move-ins will also be shown on the task list. Clicking on a missed move-in will take you to the Future Move-Ins tab.
