Adjust the Signature and Initial Field Sizes in E-sign Templates

Storable Edge

You can customize the size of signature and initial fields to ensure they are easy to read in E-signed documents. The size of these fields is determined by the font size in your letter templates, not by the E-sign platform.

Follow the instructions below to edit the size of the signature and initial placeholder tags in your templates.

  1. At the Corporate level of your Software Settings, click Letters under the Documents section.

  1. Click on the Templates tab.

  1. Click Edit for the template you want to update.

  1. Highlight the signature/initial placeholder tag text.

  1. With the placeholder tag selected, change the font size. The goal is to find a size that is legible without disrupting the document layout.

We recommend starting with 2-4 points.

For example, if the current font size is 10pt, try 14pt.

  1. Click Save & Exit.

  1. Test the edits you made by generating a test document using the updated template and completing the E-sign process. Review the final signed document to confirm the signature and initials are the size you want. If signatures/initials are still too small, increase the font size further. If signatures/initials are too large and interfere with surrounding text or overlap with other content in the document, reduce the font size slightly.

Important notes

  • Changing the font size of other text in the template will not affect signature/initial sizes.

  • Be careful with templates that have signature fields within paragraphs or tables. Increasing the font size too much may cause the placeholder to shift the layout of surrounding text. Test thoroughly after making changes.

  • Each template must be updated individually. If you use multiple letter templates with E-sign, you will need to repeat these steps for each one.

  • Any changes you make will apply to all future documents generated from the updated template.

FAQ

Q: Can the signature size be edited globally for all templates?
A: No. The signature size is determined by the font size in your individual letter templates. This gives you control over the size on a per-template basis.

Q: Will editing the signature or initial fields break my existing templates?
A: If you only change the font size of the signature/initial placeholder tags and test the result, the risk is minimal. We recommend making a small increase first (2-4 points) and testing before making larger changes.

Q: If the signature/initial fields are too small, how many points should I increase the font size by?
A: It depends on your current font size and document layout. Start with a modest increase (e.g., 10pt to 14pt) and test. You can always adjust further.

Q: Does editing the signature or initial fields affect the E-signing experience?
A: No. The signing experience (green signature box where the tenant signs) remains the same. Editing the font size of those fields only affects how the signature appears on the final signed document.
