Undoing a move-out lets you quickly correct same-day mistakes while keeping tenant history and unit availability accurate.
Quick Start
1. Navigate to the tenant's page > History tab or Past Rentals section.
2. Click Undo Move-Out for the applicable rental.
3. Choose whether to notify the tenant and select an Undo move-out reason.
4. Click Undo Move-Out to confirm.
Prerequisites
• Undo Move-Outs must be enabled for your facility and your user role.
• The move-out must have occurred on the same day (before 11:59 p.m. in your facility's time zone).
• The move-out cannot have a refund issued or requested at the time of move-out.
Undo a Move-Out From the Tenant Page
-
Navigate to the tenant's page > History tab or Past Rentals section.
You can access the Undo Move-Out option from either of these locations on the tenant page.
-
Click Undo Move-Out for the applicable rental.
This opens the Undo Move-Out confirmation window.
-
Choose whether to notify the tenant and select an Undo move-out reason.
Use the available options to send an email and/or text message to the tenant, based on your communication settings, and choose the most appropriate reason from the dropdown.
-
Click Undo Move-Out to confirm.
The system processes the undo, updates the tenant record, and (if selected) sends the notification to the tenant.
-
Review the updated tenant history and unit status.
The tenant history will show that the move-out was reversed, and the unit's availability will be updated according to your facility settings.
Understand Unit Availability and Billing When You Undo a Move-Out
-
Confirm that the unit is not already rented or reserved.
When Undo Move-Outs is enabled, units can be rented to another tenant on the same day as the move-out. If another tenant rents or reserves the unit between the move-out and the undo action, the Undo Move-Out button will be unavailable until that tenant is moved to a different unit and the original unit is available again.
-
Check whether the unit is rentable based on your Edge settings.
The unit will be available to rent or reserve immediately after the undo, unless your Allow Dirty Units to be rented or Allow damaged units to be rented settings in Edge prevent that. Users with permission to Change the Rentable status can choose to mark the unit unrentable on the unit page after move-out.
-
Review any fees and payments associated with the original move-out.
-
If a fee was added during move-out, the invoice for that fee will be automatically voided when you undo the move-out.
Payments taken at move-out will not be reversed automatically when a move-out is undone. If necessary, the payment must be refunded manually.
